The 2015 Volkswagen Golf TDI SportWagen concept will debut at the 2014 New York International Auto Show.
The new concept will replace the Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen in North America. This time, the vehicle will keep the Golf name, as opposed to it being branded as a Jetta.
The new Golf TDI SportWagen is built on the same platform as VW’s 2015 Golf, GTI and the new 2015 Audi A3. It’s also lighter than the outgoing Jetta SportWagen and in addition, the drag coefficient is reduced on the new model.
Under the hood of the Golf SportWagen is the new 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine, producing 150-horsepower. The standard transmission with this engine is a 6-speed manual. The DSG automatic is optional.VW’s 4Motion AWD system is also new for this concept, though this is yet to be fully confirmed.
EPA consumption ratings are not available at the moment, and it will be interesting to see how the addition of 4Motion, should that be the case, will impact fuel economy. The new 2015 Volkswagen Golf TDI SportWagen will debut at the auto show in New York, with sales of the vehicle set for 2015. The show is open to the public this month, from April 18-27.
