BMW i3 and i8 unveiled yesterday in Quebec

BMW i8 Laval

It was during an impressive evening hosted by BMW Laval that the new BMW i3 and i8 was unveiled. The official ambassador of BMW Laval, Sugar Sammy, generated quite a few laughs among the guests gathered on Chomedey Boulevard. This was just before lifting the veil on the new range of eco-friendly BMW vehicles.

The unveiling was done in the company of Eduardo Villaverde, CEO of BMW Canada, and Carmine D’Argenio, owner of BMW Laval. Charles Hamelin, Marianne St-Gelais and Mikaël Kingsbury, all medalists from the last Olympic Games in Sochi, were also present for the evening.

The lineup is a first for BMW, and aims to combine efficiency with the driveability associated with the Bavarian product. The BMW i3 is a small hatchback, stout in style, and propelled solely by an electric motor. It can travel up to 160 km with its 22 kWh lithium-ion battery.

The BMW i8 on the hand is a performance-oriented eco-friendly coupe with a plug-in hybrid that generates 362-horsepower. The vehicle can reach a range of 35 km solely using the electric engine. When the traditional engine is added to the equation, the BMW i8 can reach 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds.
