Of the 518,000 Tesla Model 3 booked around the world following the model’s unveiling, 63,000 of them are no longer. The news was confirmed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently during a quarterly earnings call with investors.
According to Tesla’s founder, these canceled reservations are not a major problem and this will allow the manufacturer to better respond to orders currently in place. Musk also added that 1,800 reservations were made every day since the first deliveries of the Model 3 which began a few weeks ago.
Elon Musk said it was more logical to focus on keeping current orders than trying to get more. He explained his position with a metaphor of a hamburger restaurant that would have a queue of more than an hour.
“Do you really want to go and encourage others to order burgers?”, asked Tesla’s CEO.
