Crate Hellcat engine for your project car?

While the world braces for the end of the internal combustion engine, our crazy friends over at FCA are making their most talked about and desirable engine available for purchase.

That’s right, if you’ve got any pre-1976 MOPAR project car sitting in the garage right now, your dreams are about to come true. If that Challenger, or Charger, or Super Bee or Dart’s begging for a new engine, FCA’s just released the Hellcat’s 707-horsepower 650 lb.-ft. of torque, supercharged 6.2-litre HEMI V8 in a crate.

The Hellcrate (I love it!) is available in a few configurations. The actual Hellcat engine assembly (part 68303089AA) retails for $19,530 USD. With it can be ordered the Hellcrate Engine Kit (part 177072452) for a supplemental $2,195. This kit makes the conversion job much easier. It includes a powertrain computer (PCM), a power distribution center, engine and chassis wiring harnesses, accelerator pedal, ground jumper, oxygen sensors, charge air temperature sensors and fuel pump control module. Essentially, this is everything you’ll need to make the engine run with little or no fuss.

Get this: if you order both the assembly and the kit, you get a Mopar 3-year, unlimited-mileage warranty! Oh, and two more things: If you’re wondering why the accelerator pedal, that’s because the Hellcat engines are “throttle by wire” designs, which means the Duster’s mechanical linkage won’t do much good. As well, the Mopar “Hellcrate” kit is adjusted for pairing with a manual transmission…

I need to start shopping for a ’69 Charger shell. I know I don’t need to explain why.
