Ford GT supercar to be built in Canada

In addition to winning the 2015 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year with their Ford F-150, the manufacturer continues to make headlines with the announcement that the recently-revealed Ford GT super car will be built in partnership with Multimatic in Markham, ON. The result? We can actually say the GT will be “Made in Canada.”

Power for the GT comes from the most powerful EcoBoost engine ever used in a Ford production vehicle. The six-cylinder unit is said to produce more than 600 hp, sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission.

The body panels are constructed in carbon fibre in an effort to reduce weight. Ford confirmed at the Canadian International Auto Show that production will start in 2016.
