When Jaguar launched the F-Pace, they expected that it would sell well. That, it did and so well in fact that it prompted the introduction of two more Jag crossovers in less than two years.
The I-Pace electric concept vehicle shows much promise but isn’t expected for at least another year. In the meantime, Jaguar’s got us on the hook with the up-coming E-Pace.
This new compact crossover will make its world premiere on July 13th on Jaguar’s YouTube channel. This anticipated sub-F-Pace is in the midst of completing a battery of tests all over the world. Dubbed hell or high water, the E-Pace prototypes have gone through much before being deemed ready for reveal. The video shares a number of details about the E-Pace’s development.
Details about the vehicle are scarce but we can safely assume that it will be powered by turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engines, be it petrol or diesel. The transmission should be a ZF 8-speed automatic and combined, should return some impressive numbers, both performance and fuel consumption-wise. A hybrid version is a strong possibility as well.
The compact dimensions, reasonable weight and the latest powertrains, despite the presence of AWD and countless luxury amenities, should ensure that the E-Pace will be as efficient as it will be entertaining to drive.
The E-Pace will share the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport’s platform, which means in turn that off-road capabilities should be better than decent.
We’ll all know more when the new E-Pace breaks cover later next week.
