In 2009, Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg unveiled, in collaboration with the German company NLV, a revolutionary car with a propulsion system known as Flow Accumulator Energy Storage. According to the manufacturer, the QUANT was an electric car generating 527-horsepower with a range of 480 km. Moreover, it was possible to recharge the vehicle in less than 20 minutes.
This car has never seen the light of day, but NLV is resurfacing, this time without Koenigsegg. This year, for the Geneva Auto Show, they will unveil their new QUANT vehicle that will once again include a unique propulsion system.
NLV will use flow cell battery technology that stores energy in the form of electrolytes as opposed to electrodes, similar to that of a conventional battery. Among the advantages of this type of system, a faster charge time has been observed. That being said, it is a very complex and expensive technology.
More information on the new QUANT will be revealed at the Geneva Auto Show.
