Nokian tires are known as some of the best in the world, especially when it comes to their winter tires which dominate comparison tests year after year. Now, the Finnish manufacturer is looking into finding ways for motorists to get information about the condition of their tires quickly.
According to Nokian, one out of every four accidents is attributable to worn tires. The new system developed by the company and named SnapSkan uses a special plate that is able to read thread wear and then communicate the information to the driver by text message or other form of communication.
The plate could be installed at gas stations in America and Europe, or in car washes.
It is not yet known if this technology will eventually see the day, but it seems that Nokian is determined to bring it to market.
