A lot of people like to bring their pets with them in the car. There is nothing wrong with that if you take a few precautions to make sure you and your pet will be safe. When it comes to cats, most will be in a cage and probably won’t be too much of a hassle. Dogs, however, can become a problem and should be handled differently.
First things, first, make sure your dog cannot move around the cabin as he or she pleases. There are plenty of harnesses offered on the market that will prevent your dog from moving around and more importantly, jumping in the front seat without warning. Moreover, these harnesses will make sure your animal is safe in the event of an accident.
Second, plan your trip and make sure you stop often enough for your dog to get out of the car, walk and sniff around, and do its business. It’s important to not drive on for hours on end without stopping if you have a dog in the vehicle.
Also, if it is very hot outside, make sure there is plenty of air reaching the back seat, and keep the windows slightly down. Of course, never leave your dog in the car unattended, especially on a very hot day. Finally, it may be a good idea to put a muzzle on your friend, at least when you are driving. Sudden barking can distract you from the road and may lead to problems.
