It certainly is not something we wish on anyone, but the fact remains that at some point or another, you will probably find yourself involved in spite of you in an accident. Because such events do not occur often, many of us do not know how to react. Therefore, here is a checklist of what to do in the event of an accident.
Assess the situation
The accident has just happened, and you are just coming back to your senses. The first thing you need to do is not to panic, and assess the situation around you. Next, check is if there are injuries. If this is the case, call 911 as soon as possible. Unless you have the necessary training, do not move an injured person.
If there are no injuries, it is not necessary to call the police. If you choose to do so anyway, wait for them quietly in your car that, if possible, you have moved out of the way of traffic in order to prevent any further danger.
If you do not call the police, everyone is safe and you are not in the way of traffic , complete the accident report. The following information should be noted:
The name and address of the driver;
The license number of the driver;
The name and address of the owner of the vehicle registered in the vehicle registration certificate;
The vehicle license plate number;
The information appearing in the certificate of insurance.
Notify your insurer
Whether or not you are responsible for the accident, immediately notify your insurer. He must know all the details, just in case a sudden claim would appear in your file. And you probably want him to compensate you for your damages also.
